I’ve watched online casino gaming go through several major changes since I started playing, and one of the most positive changes has been the emergence of live casino games. Specifically, the entrance of Evolution Gaming, which is the leader by far, has done wonders for live casino gaming.

Since 2016, this firm has constantly innovated and released some of the most interesting live dealer games online. One such game is Lightning Roulette. It’s a supercharged version of the classic casino table game which makes it much more exciting than it already is.

So, how does Lightning Roulette work? How do you win it? What are the rules? I’ll tell you all in this Lightning Roulette review.

Lightning Roulette – A Walkthrough

  • But back to roulette. The zero is the only green number on the roulette wheel, and it marks the difference between a European Roulette wheel and an American Roulette wheel, as a European wheel has one zero pocket and an American wheel has two zero pockets (the 0 and the 00).
  • Roulette 0 Multiplier, farm poker, caisse d'epargne cannes casino des fleurs, zynga got slots.
  • Live Quantum Roulette is Playtech’s first live dealer game that applies random Multipliers of up to 500x to winning straight up roulette numbers. Using multipliers is a growing theme in live casino games. They spice up wins and give a little extra edge to the game. If this concept looks familiar it’s because it is.

When I first entered the Lightning Roulette studio, I was impressed by how it looked. Unlike many live roulette games, Evolution Gaming streams this one from a dedicated game studio. Every single detail has been thought about, including the impressive black and gold colour scheme, the digital game board in the background, and the entertaining dealers who host the game.

This is what happened from there:

  1. I had to wait for a little bit, as there was a current betting round ongoing. I didn’t mind because this gave me time to watch and learn. I waited less than 20 seconds, and the dealer invited me to place a bet in the next round.
  2. A digital roulette table popped up from the bottom of the screen. I already knew that this game was all about straight bets rather than even money bets like red/black or odds/evens, so I picked 10 numbers randomly and bet £10 on each of them. The minimum bet was £0.20 and the maximum was £1,000 per spin.
  3. The dealer indicated that the betting window had closed, but then, instead of spinning the wheel, he pulled a handle. It looked like the sort of handle someone would pull to set the electric chair in motion, except it was gold.
  4. A few seconds later, three numbers appeared on the digital screen behind the live dealer. I later learned that up to five such numbers can appear on this screen. Each number has a multiplier associated with it of up to 500x.
  5. The dealer releases the ball, and the camera switches angles to an overhead view of the wheel. This is a nice touch. It means you get to see the wheel up close and get a great view of the action.
  6. Finally, the dealer settles all bets. If you’re lucky enough to have bet on one of the “lucky numbers,” you’ll win the multiplier associated with that bet. All other straight bets pay 30:1. After this, a new round of betting begins, and the whole process begins again.

I must say, I think this game is ace! Yes, it’s highly unlikely that I’m going to pick a number which then wins me a 500x multiplier, but what is casino gaming if not the chance to bet on the unlikely for a big-money payout? I think this version of roulette will hold great appeal to thrill-seekers, and I understand why it won EGR Game of the Year in 2018.

Lightning Roulette Strategy and Tips

Enticed by the massive multipliers, I began to wonder about the best way to bet on Lightning Roulette.

It’s obvious that progressive betting systems like the Martingale system won’t work on this game. Sure, you can use them to win even money bets, but what’s the point of that when you have to pick the right numbers to win the multipliers? You’d be better off playing standard European roulette instead.

Therefore, you’ll have to resort to other bet types when playing Lightning Roulette like the ones listed below:

  • Neighbour Bets – You’ll see a racetrack which helps you to place these bets with a single click. For example, the “Voisins” bet covers 17 numbers: 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, and 25. There are several other neighbour bets such as the “Tiers” and “Orphelins” which cover a significant portion of the table.
  • Columns – If you’re a roulette aficionado, you’ll already know that columns bets cover 12 numbers. You could bet on one or two columns to give yourself the best chance of winning a big multiplier.
  • Red or Black – This is not the even money red or black bet which you might think. Instead, you bet on all of the red numbers or all of the black numbers. In this way, you’ll cover half of the possibilities excluding the zero. That’s close to a 50/50 chance of winning the biggest multiplier on the board.
  • Random Selections – This isn’t so much a strategy as it is a stab in the dark with a good chance of winning. Select more than half of the possible numbers randomly. You’re not guaranteed to win, but you’ll have a better than average chance.
  • Bet on Every Number – Yes, it’s possible to bet on every number on the board. This means you will win the multiplier if the roulette ball lands in that pocket. It’ll cost you £37 to place £1 on every number, including the zero. In the worst case scenario, you’ll win back £30 on a standard number. If you can take a few £7 losses, eventually you’re going to win the multiplier. Will you be in profit, though? That’s another matter entirely.

None of these Lightning Roulette strategies are guaranteed to work. In fact, you could lose several times in a row even if you have the majority of numbers covered, chewing up your bankroll in the process. However, it only takes one 100x or 500x multiplier to turn a losing streak into a winner. If you have the nerve for it, you can give yourself a good chance of winning one of the multipliers.

Please also remember that a lucky number isn’t guaranteed to be the winning number. You could have five lucky numbers on the board, and the ball could land in a pocket with a completely different number. That’s just how this game goes. The stars will have to align for you to win the biggest multipliers, but hey, someone has to win them and plenty of players do.

Final Verdict

I played Lightning Roulette for about 50 spins, and while I was exhilarated at the beginning, I was quite frustrated by the end. I didn’t see the 500x multiplier come in even once, although it was on the board a few times.

However, despite my personal frustration at not winning big money, I do think this is an incredibly well-designed game. Evolution Gaming has put a lot of thought into it, and even though it’s unlikely that you’ll win the biggest multiplier, it’s still worth trying for.

My final verdict would be this, if you’re a roulette player who likes to place straight bets, this game is for you. If not, you’d be better off trying your luck on a slot machine. You could win 500x here in the best case scenario, but some slots offer 5,000x or more for the same size bet.

Roulette offers a bewildering number of betting options, but the bets are actually straightforward enough. In order to make sure you get the correct payout, you’ll want to make sure that you put your chips in exactly the right place on the table. Missing a payout because your chip isn’t in the right spot is a drag.

Roulette payouts are an important part of roulette strategy. They work like this. The odds are stated in the form of x to 1, which means you’ll win x dollars for every dollar you’ve bet. For example, the single number bet offers a payout of 35 to 1. If you win, you’ll get your dollar back plus the $35 for the win.

Payouts on the Outside Bets

On the edge of the table are a series of bets which are “outside” the 38 numbers on the table. Each of these bets refers to a specific set of numbers or colors. If the ball lands on 0 or 00, you’ll lose on any of the outside bets.

The outside bets include:

Red or Black – This bet pays out even odds (1 to 1) if the ball lands on the color you chose.

Odd or Even – This bet pays out even odds (1 to 1) if the ball lands on odd or even, depending on which you chose.

Low or High – This bet pays out even money (1 to 1) if the ball lands on 1-18 if you bet low, or if the ball lands on 19-36 if you bet high.

Roulette 0 Multiplier Definition

Columns – The numbers on the layout are organized into three columns of twelve numbers each. A “columns” bet wins if the ball lands on one of the numbers in the column you chose. This bet pays out 2 to 1 when you win.

Dozens – There are 36 numbers on the table, so you can bet on the first dozen (1-12), the second dozen (13-24), or the third dozen (25-36). This bet also pays out 2 to 1.

Payouts on the Inside Bets

You can also bet on specific numbers and sets of numbers on the inside of the layout. These bets win less often, but they pay out more when you do win. The house edge on the inside bets is the same as the house edge on the outside bets.

The inside bets for roulette include:

Straight-up – This is a bet on a single number. It pays off at 35 to 1.

Split bet – This is a bet on any two adjacent numbers. You place the chip on the line between the two numbers in order to make this wager. This bet pays out at 17 to 1.

Street bet – This bet covers three numbers. You place your bet on the line outside of the three numbers in the row where you want to win. This bet pays out at 11 to 1.

Corner bet – Some people call this a square bet or a quarter bet. It’s a bet on a corner that makes a square, and it’s a bet on four numbers. A win on this type of bet pays out at 8 to 1.

Five-number bet – You can only make one five-number bet, and it’s the only inside bet that offers different odds from all the others. The problem is that it has a higher house edge, making it the worst bet on the table. This bet is on the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3, and you place the chip on the outside corner line between the 1 and the 0. This bet pays out 6 to 1, but only masochists place this bet.

Six-number bet – Some people call this a line bet. It covers two adjoining rows of numbers. It pays out at 5 to 1.

How Roulette Payouts Give the Casino an Edge

Roulette 0 Vs 00

These payouts all have one thing in common—they pay out less than the true odds of hitting a win. That’s why the casino enjoys a house edge of 5.26% on roulette. Your odds of winning are always less than the payout amounts.

For example, the odds of winning a straight-up bet are 37 to 1. There are 37 numbers on the wheel that lose, and 1 bet on the wheel that will win. But the bet only pays out 35 to 1, not 37 to 1, so the house wins more often than it loses.

A split bet offers you odds of winning of 18 to 1, but it pays off at 17 to 1.

I could list all of them, but you get the idea by now. The casino has an unassailable mathematical advantage on every bet. No betting system or strategy can overcome this advantage.

Of course, in the short run, anything can (and often will) happen. This is called “standard deviation”, and it explains why some people walk away from the roulette table as winners. The mathematically true results only come around the closer you get to an infinite number of spins.

Roulette

So the best way to approach roulette is as a lark. It’s a fun game. You can relax and socialize while you play. But don’t expect to win, because the odds are against you. And if you do win, walk away and smile, because you beat the odds.
