William Hill Betting Review
William Hill NJ sportsbook review Writing our William Hill New Jersey review we soon realised it is a great extension of the WH brand, which has one of the best names in the global gaming industry. Players in New Jersey can take advantage of great William Hill odds and bet on many different sports in the US and all over the world. William Hill definitely takes their eSports betting seriously with a list of games offered equal to the other top providers in the industry. Here was the list of games offered the last time we updated this review. As is the industry standard, William Hill only shows the leagues. Live betting is a huge attraction at the William Hill Sportsbook. It gives bettors the option to place their wagers while the events are still taking place. This allows for experienced users to. On the whole I am quite happy with William Hill however I do not use them as much as other betting firms as they do not offer best price guarantee until later in the day or even as some firms overnight.
Top Takeaways for 2021
After testing 20 online sportsbooks for our 2021 review, here are our top findings on William Hill:
- William Hill offers a mostly standard selection of sports and bets, live betting, and mobile betting. While most bettors will be satisfied with William Hill, I would love to see them become more of an innovator given the brand’s deep, respected history in Europe.
- William Hill’s education section is lackluster and needs to be improved in both quantity and quality.
- William Hill offers excellent odds for NHL spread bets, MLB spread bets, and NBA moneyline bets, placing #1 in our 2020 odds rankings.
Supported states: Colorado, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Nevada, and West Virginia.
Casino: Online casino is offered only in Michigan, New Jersey and West Virginia. William Hill offers over 20 slot games, roulette, blackjack, and virtual poker games; however, online poker is not available. Note: This review focuses on sports betting and not casino.

Sports and Bets Offered
William Hill offers a wide enough variety of sports and bets to satisfy most bettors. Domestic and international sports leagues are available for all major sports. Common bet types include moneyline, spread, total, future, parlay, team and player props, and teasers.
While William Hill offers all of the basics, it doesn’t provide any unique contests or bet types that put it in the same elite class as DraftKings, PointsBet, or FanDuel.
Prop Bets: William Hill offers an average variety of prop bets. An example of a prop bet is “Will Tom Brady throw over/under 2.5 touchdowns” or “What team will score first between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings?”
Cash-Out Feature: Like most sportsbooks, William Hill offers a cash-out feature, which allows you to amend your original bet and lock in a profit or a loss by settling your bet (or a portion of your bet) early, without having to wait for the event to finish. Knowing you can cash a bet out early incentivizes you to watch every game you bet on, or at least get scoring updates.
Daily Odds Boosts: Like most sportsbooks, William Hill offers users daily odds boosts. Odds boosts act like a sale at a retail store, offering more incentive to make each bet. An example of an odds boost would be discounting the odds of Michael Thomas scoring a touchdown in week 11 from -180 to -120. Unlike most sportsbooks, William Hill doesn't show you the original odds of the odds boost. Bottom line, you don't know what kind of a deal you're getting.

Methodology: To score Odds, Moneyline.com gathers data from 21 sportsbooks over several months. For our 2020 Sportsbook Review, over 10,000 data points were collected for spread, moneyline, and over/under (bets).
I collected odds for spread, moneyline, and total bets for over 75 NFL games, 75 MLB games, 75 NBA games, 75 NHL games, 75 Soccer games (various leagues), and 75 NCAA Football and 75 NCAA Basketball games. When collecting odds, I collected the same games simultaneously for each sportsbook, ensuring data accuracy.
Live Betting
William Hill’s live betting menu is suitable for placing straight bets and checking live stats but lags industry leaders in other areas. Ultimately, I found the live betting experience to be good, but not great.
Instant Bets: William Hill does not offer instant bets such as drive-by-drive betting on NFL games and pitch-by-pitch betting on MLB games.
Live Match Tracker overview: William Hill offers an industry-standard match tracker for live betting sports such as football, basketball, hockey, and soccer. The match tracker has a live clock, displays the score by quarter, and even shows which team is attacking in real-time.
Live Match Tracker pros: Unlike most sportsbooks, William Hill offers some live stats for each game. For example, for NFL games, William Hill lists touchdowns, total yards, passing yards, rushing yards, sacks, and penalties for each team. As a fan, I enjoy seeing this information while live betting.
Live Match Tracker cons: William Hill does not list game clocks on the live betting menu until you click on an individual game. While this isn’t a dealbreaker, it is a noticeable nuisance compared to other sportsbooks.
Live Streaming: This feature allows users to stream games live from their phones. Unlike FanDuel and BetRivers, William Hill does not offer live streaming.

William Hill App
While not quite as easy to use as some competitors, the William Hill mobile app will satisfy most bettors.
Likes: William Hill makes it easy to check open bets, navigate to different games and sports, and switch back and forth between the sportsbook and casino games.
Dislikes: Using live chat customer support takes you out of the app and into the William Hill website in your web browser. Also, navigating to educational pages is a chore and needs improvement. Finally, because William Hill places all leagues under broader sports categories instead of sorting by leagues, it’s more time-consuming to navigate to specific leagues and bet types.

Education
William Hill’s education is limited to a sub-par guide that defines popular bet types and betting terms. William Hill does not use images or examples to explain these bet types and only defines them. Simply put, I expect more from a global brand with a longstanding history.
For better education, see our guides on how to read odds, different bet types, and bonus rollovers, or check out industry leaders such as DraftKings and 888sport.

Bonuses & Promotions
William Hill offers excellent bonuses for new customers, competing with the best bonuses in the industry. For existing customers, William Hill does not provide nearly as many ongoing seasonal promotions.
New customers: For first-time customers, William Hill offers a free bet up to $500, as well as $50 risk-free for casino bets. The free bet up to $500 is an exceptional bonus. To get the maximum of $500, you only have to deposit $250 or more. While the free bet expires in seven days, there are limited rollover requirements, which is a rare find in the industry.
Existing customes: Ongoing promotions for existing customers is where William Hill lags top competitors such as DraftKings, BetRivers, and FanDuel. The other sports betting apps mentioned offer five to ten ongoing promotions year-round; William Hill typically only offers one to three.

Final Thoughts
William Hill is an above-average sportsbook available to residents of Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, New Jersey, Nevada, and West Virginia. While I could see myself opening an account at William Hill for its competitive odds, I could not see myself using William Hill as my primary sports betting app.
Bettors seeking good odds, a good first-time deposit bonus, and a standard slate of sports and bets will appreciate what William Hill has to offer. Meanwhile, bettors seeking a lot of educational content, unique bet types, and ongoing promotions will want to look elsewhere.
